A Fight for Dignity and Protection
When the Unforgettable Coatings case began, workers endured years of threats, intimidation, and abuse. Before DALE protections were in place, only a small number of workers were willing to come forward due to fear of retaliation and lack of protection.
Last month, this worker tragically passed away. His death is currently under investigation by the office of the medical examiner, and a formal cause of death has yet to be determined. While they wait for this determination, the family is unable to lay him to rest, causing additional grief as more than a month has passed and they are still without answers regarding the official cause of his untimely death.
This workers memorial day, we honor his legacy of struggle in the face of extreme adversity.Our $20,000 fundraising goal includes repatriation costs, funeral costs, burial costs, legal services for his minor children, and three months rent and utilities.
